Health – What is it?
Health – there are many models of health and many organizations have attempted to define what brings health. What brings health can be generally streamlined into pillars, or components.
The VA Whole Health model I think captures many components that brings health, but even that model seems too complicated.
7 Components of Holistic Health
1. MOVE – This is how you move your body. Whether it be unstructured or structured. Movement is critical for health. If you are not moving, you are dying.
2. EAT
Nutrition and what you drink (or don’t drink). Think about eggs, broccoli and potato chips. For drinks, think about beer, water, milk.
3. REST
Even God rested, shouldn’t we? We are designed to sleep and rest! Not just sleep, but rest and margin.
4. MIND
Brain health and mind health – this is the connection we have between our brain and mind. Not just emotional health, but Mind health. Emotions, anxiety, depression, joy and happiness – all are derived from the brain and stored memories or memory disorders are all derived from the brain and spinal cord.
5. COMMUNITY
We are human beings designed to be in community. The Trinity is the ultimate expression of even God in community with Father, Son and Spirit. Because we are images of God, we embody the need for community.
6. SPIRIT
Maybe the most important part of health – is the representation of you and who you are in the universe. Are you known, seen and heard? Who do you believe you are? This is the purpose and the search for meaning in life – which drives the whole reason of our life. Without this sense of who we are – we will always struggle with health.
7. PURPOSE
Why are you here on Earth? What is your purpose for human kind?
